Ayisha Malik’s debut novel, Sofia Khan is not Obliged, and its sequel, The Other Half of Happiness, were (perhaps unsurprisingly) dubbed the 'Muslim Bridget Jones.' Born and raised in South London, she has worked as a publicist and editor, as well as ghost writer for Nadiya Hussein. Described as ‘a life-affirming look at love, faith and the meaning of home’, her latest book, This Green and Pleasant Land (2020) follows the travails of a son trying to carry out his mother’s dying wish to build a mosque in their sleepy English village. Malik also writes short fiction, with an upcoming collection, A Match Made in Heaven, and contributing to the anthology A Change Gonna Come.
