King's Studio, King's Pavilion, King's College Campus University of Aberdeen
Be inspired by science in this creative writing workshop with speculative fiction writer Jane Alexander
In this workshop we’ll explore how science and technology can spark inspiration for writing fiction. Through guided writing activities and creative prompts, you’ll have the opportunity to generate ideas, and to try a range of approaches for turning your ideas into stories. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of writing fiction.
Jane Alexander is a novelist, short story writer, and a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh. As a teacher of creative writing, Jane has worked with all kinds of learners – from secondary school pupils to local elderly people, international students to men in prison. For several years she ran creative writing workshops for people in recovery from substance misuse, and she is currently a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. In 2018, she completed a PhD in creative writing, exploring the contemporary uncanny in short fiction.
Jane will also be appearing later in the day with Sci-fi author Nina Allan.
